NCASP: National Clinical Audit (Diabetes)

Medical Mosaic currently provide support for the NCASP Diabetes Prediction model.

This has involved understanding the sources of data, processing them to generate a statistical analysis of predicted diabetes rates throughout the country, making use of Office of National Statistics population databases and Townsend Deprivation Scores to produce a national deprivation population database for use in the Diabetes Audit.

Medical Mosaic offers a wide range of services and experience in these areas, in all sectors of health care and also in social care – especially in the information-sharing issues of cross-sector working.

Informatics And The Processes Being Informed

Our services start from knowing the processes to be informed, then generating the information flows needed. This is the basis of our approach to information needs analysis and system specification. In implementation, we ensure the new information flows are commissioned properly and help to change practice.

We offer specific skills in information governance: accounting for how data is generated, processed and used in informing healthcare.

Data Warehouse: ‘Help Yourself’ To Integrated Information

A data warehouse brings together information from different sources and links them to produce new intelligence: for example, activity data linked with HR data gives valuable skill-mix information.

We have implemented data warehouse systems, and have proven the great power of ‘self-service’. This provides users with direct access to the information they need, reducing their dependence upon overworked information analysts, who can now become highly-skilled ‘information architects’, building information capability, rather than providing information.

Statistical Analysis

Our services include:

Chasing the data, wherever it is held, to compile, analyse and present intelligent reports: for example, on Need, Demand, Capacity, Activity, Staffing and Costs.
Use of SPC (statistical process control) in mapping and modelling the processes that are the subject of the information, to produce better whole systems and new processes.
Modelling and running simulations of new processes to show the range of activity levels and of costs.
Recommending improvements to the source data, to establish permanently improved analyses and uses of information.
