Implementation

Our approach to implementation of information systems is based on understanding that if the application of information technology is to be successful in an organisation that it needs to be owned at all levels. A process that is imposed or adopted from elsewhere is unlikely to be acceptable to those who operate it. Similarly processes that are defined without direction may well not be in accord with an organisation’s business drivers. Our process led approach therefore seeks to involve people at all levels, strategic and operational, in the mapping and redesign of their process and its assurance. In doing this we seek to ensure that processes are designed in alignment with the business’s strategic direction and that they reflect operational realities.

We use process mapping tools and techniques that are straight forward and easily understood, making use of simple flow charts with easily recognised conventions, using industry standard software (Microsoft Visio). To ensure that there is full ownership of the processes we facilitate their construction with those people who operate them, offering challenge and advice based upon years of past experience.

Fundamental to understanding the support required of any information solution is mapping the flow of information through a process. This defines the information that is required by or recorded by an individual at any stage in a process, demonstrating efficiencies that can be gained through the reuse of information within and between processes. Our approach fully identifies these flows and will be particularly important in understanding the flow of information to support website and other on-line communications and activity.
