Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme - Audit and Monitoring
Medical Mosaic are helping the Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme source the information to produce audit data to monitor and improve the performance of Fetal Anomaly and Down's Syndrome screening. We undertook a feasibility study through:
- Pathway and process analysis to map the pathways for mothers undertaking their antenatal screen, the associated information flows and source systems. This included identifying outcomes for each of the conditions and potential sources for this information.
- Liaison with system suppliers to understand the current capability and level of data capture.
- Assessment of the potential for reporting this information through national processes and potential architecture for doing this.
The report identified there was high likelihood that screening data could be reported and that the although outcome data was captured in most instances its reporting was possible, but more challenging due to the infrequency of the conditions.
The study provided the programme with sufficient evidence for them to decide to move to a proof of concept project to test the practicality of reporting the data. Medical Mosaic have been managing this project for the programme:
- Defining the proof of concept framework and success criteria
- Defining the reporting dataset
- Recruitment and management of the proof of concept sites
- Developing a service model for reporting
- Developing the business case for national rollout
